Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang province in Northeast China, is known as the 'Ice City' for its bitterly cold winters and the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival, held since 1985 and one of the world's four largest. Marvel at illuminated ice buildings from Songhua River ice at Ice and Snow World, enormous snow sculptures at Sun Island, Yabuli alpine skiing, snowmobiling, winter swimming, and Zhaolin Garden's ice-lantern exhibition.
