Description
A walk along the disused Barnsley Canal from Cold Hiendley to Waterton Park Hotel at Walton, Wakefield. The canal opened in 1799, closed around 1946, and transported coal and goods between Barnsley and Wakefield over 14.5 miles with 15 locks. Though many sections have been filled in, stretches like the one at Walton retain features of a working canal.
