Description

Caishiji Park lies on the east bank of the Yangtze River in western Ma'anshan City, Anhui Province, China. Originally Niuzhuji, it was renamed during the Three Kingdoms period due to its protruding land into the narrow, dangerous river. A key defense site since ancient times, it hosted the 1161 Battle of Caishiji, where Southern Song general Yu Yunwen defeated the Jin army. Legends claim Tang poet Li Bai drowned here while drunkenly trying to catch the moon, inspiring mourning poems carved on nearby stone walls. Ming writer Mei Zhihuan satirized them with his own verse praising Li Bai's enduring fame.
