Description

Shamli is known as the city painted in the colors of Lord Krishna. Hanuman Tila is the main pilgrimage center of Shamli district. It is believed that in the Dwapar era, Lord Krishna stayed here while traveling from Hastinapur to Kurukshetra. He rested under a banyan tree on the mound, quenched his thirst with sweet well water, praised Bajrangbali, and resolved for him to accompany Arjuna's flag. Today, numerous temples adorn the site, including an idol of Lord Shankar in the central pond, and grand idols of Mankeshwar Mahadev, Jagannath, Ganesha, Parashuram, Rani Sati, Jagadamba, Satyanarayana, Santoshi Mata, Radha Krishna, Parvati, and Shani Dev.
